While COVID-19 is trending in the wrong direction in Kansas and our hospitals are once again nearing capacity, as highlighted in a recent Kansas Reflector op-ed,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kansasreflector.com\/2021\/08\/09\/kansans-can-play-an-important-role-in-vaccine-acceptance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">we still have the ability to overcome this pandemic if we increase our vaccination rates<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/faith-in-vaccines\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/FaithInVaccines400.png\" alt=\"Faith in Vaccines COVID-19 Sermon Guide and Toolkit\" class=\"wp-image-2412\" width=\"200\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/FaithInVaccines400.png 400w, https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/FaithInVaccines400-298x300.png 298w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We can all do our part by having open and empathetic conversations with family, friends and neighbors about the vaccine and encouraging them to make a plan to get vaccinated. To help&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/Faith-In-Vaccines-COVID-19-Guide-and-Toolkit.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">faith leaders<\/a>&nbsp;do just that, the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund created a Faith in Vaccines&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/Faith-In-Vaccines-COVID-19-Toolkit.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">toolkit and sermon series<\/a>&nbsp;to help faith leaders support positive conversations about vaccinations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/Faith-In-Vaccines-COVID-19-Guide-and-Toolkit.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">guide<\/a>, informed by conversations with lay faith leaders across Kansas and research conducted by the de Beaumont Foundation and Missouri Foundation for Health, also can help prepare you to have meaningful, impactful and highly personal conversations about the benefits of vaccinations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>During these conversations, it\u2019s normal for questions to arise. Faith leaders and medical professionals are trusted sources who can provide helpful information. Enlist them to help share the message about the importance of vaccines. We did. Commit to having open, honest conversations with loved ones about the importance and safety of vaccines. Help address their concerns and encourage them to make a plan to get vaccinated. Your time and these conversations can save lives.
