We also <a href=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/kancare-expansion-healthy-workers-healthy-economy\/\">partnered with Gov. Laura Kelly<\/a> on her highly visible \u201cHealthy Workers, Healthy Economy\u201d campaign.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Partnered with the Kansas Hospital Association to transition two traditional hospitals that were at risk of closure into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctnewsonline.com\/news\/article_7647f0cc-be3b-11ed-b30f-c7c32b10e29a.html\">Rural Emergency Hospitals<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-6e80061a55cb17d53fbe54c38414a8a9\" style=\"background-color:#7da1ae\">THRIVING CHILDREN<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/pcit-edit-2.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6396\" style=\"width:621px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Worked with partners to improve early childhood policies and services. We also launched research on the child care assistance program and family economic security issues, including child care.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Served on the Early Childhood Transition Task force. Health Fund President David Jordan was nominated by Governor Kelly to serve on this important task force to help recommend how the state can improve its early childhood services.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helped increase access to early childhood mental health services by funding Parent Child Interaction Therapy training in several areas across the state.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Partnered with <a href=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/august-is-national-breastfeeding-month\/\">breastfeeding coalitions and health leaders<\/a> to make significant gains in helping mothers initiate and maintain breastfeeding. Our funding also helped form coalitions led by women of color to support their communities in breastfeeding; it also increased access to lactation support services by helping certify more than 50 consultants and counselors.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Funded efforts by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ksbreastfeeding.org\/\">Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition<\/a> to advocate for state policies that support breastfeeding success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-909cfdb3674307cc3342dd5aed48df0a\" style=\"background-color:#c6322a\">ENGAGED CONGREGATIONS AND COMMUNITIES<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/wp-content\/uploads\/HC-Retreat-2023.gif\" alt=\"United Methodist Health Ministry Fund Health Congregations retreat 2023 group photo\" class=\"wp-image-6397\" style=\"width:620px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Launched <a href=\"https:\/\/healthfund.org\/a\/healthy-congregations\/mental-health-first-aid\/\">Youth Mental Health First Aid training<\/a> available to all Kansans at no cost.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helped address food insecurity in Salina by providing grant funding for a three-month Summer Food Service Program. Our funding helped to purchase necessary equipment, including shelving and freezers, and signage for an onsite grab-and-go distribution point.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reignited the annual Healthy Congregations Retreat for the first time since the pandemic in 2020.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Our impact in 2023 was significant, and our efforts continue.
