In this podcast, we share inspiring stories of pioneering leaders from our nation and from your backyard who are working to improve health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 23%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>In episode 34, we interview <a href=\"https:\/\/hsph.harvard.edu\/profile\/john-e-mcdonough\/\">John McDonough<\/a>, professor of public health practice at the <a href=\"https:\/\/hsph.harvard.edu\/\">Harvard T.H. It&#8217;s never going to end.&#8217; And you&#8217;re always wrong. It&#8217;s always going to turn around, and so this, too, where we are right now, shall pass, and there will be important opportunities that emerge from it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>He also discusses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating the model for what nationally became the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicaid.gov\/chip\">Children&#8217;s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)<\/a> program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Efforts to achieve near-universal health coverage in Massachusetts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with Sen. Edward Kennedy to essentially use Massachusetts&#8217; landmark health care reform legislation as the foundation for the Affordable Care Act<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important aspects of the Affordable Care Act, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthcare.gov\/\">Health Insurance Marketplace<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, or HR1, will negatively impact state Medicaid programs and how voting to expand Medicaid in Kansas would help offset some of those funding losses; Kansas is one of only 10 states that has not expanded its Medicaid program as part of the ACA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Waste, fraud and abuse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private equity and monopolization and how that can impact rural hospitals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And much more!
