Nearly 1 in 5 Americans has a mental illness or substance use disorder, yet many are reluctant to seek help or simply don’t know where to turn for care. Recognizing mental health and substance use challenges can be difficult, which is why it’s so important to understand the warning signs and risk factors. That’s why members of our church participated in Mental Health First Aid training through the Healthy Congregations program. We learned about risk factors, warning signs, strategies to help and where to turn for help. Others can participate in this program, as well. If you or someone you know is interested, please let us know! This training program is available to anyone in our community.
